Falling in love again
66
I'd crept into the deepest darkest place,
Where life and love no longer saw my face.
My heart was cold, my very soul was dead.
My only solace, memories in my head.
You came to me and caught me unaware,
And unprepared, I fell into your lair.
I struggled as you crawled into my mind,
Afraid of what your loving me might find.
And as I stayed resistant to your touch
You never turned away, instead t'was such
an oh so gentle nudging at my soul
that woke me with your ever sweet cajole
'Til finally I melted in your arms
Unfolding as a child would, free from harm.
I gave myself completely, so beguiled.
A whole new world had opened when you smiled.

The essence of love in all its glory!
alekhouse, if this is just your beginning of wriring poerty, you are a natural! This poem is Magnificent! :)
I love the title of this poem, and the poetry is very artistic.
this is actually beautiful.... love the picture also..... keep writing poetry, you are a genius.... x
This is really good Alekouse, the best poem I've read on this site today, and I've read a few!
Ditto for me, Alkehouse. I found the title very intriguing. The sentiments expressed in the poem itself very familiar. So hard to let love in the second (or third) time. Much easier to stay closed and hardened. Love the "melted" imagery. Lovely. More, please!! MM
Great imagery, and such familiar notions - I could really relate. Thanks for sharing this. Fantastic job!
Beautiful, it made me sad and happy at the same time.
Thanks for the comment about my avatar. I will go back and look at the bear attack hub comment you made. Sorry I did not respond, I thought I had. I really like your poems by the way.
The title to this poem is so apt as it really unfolds to reveal what it speaks of... Nicely done! Thanks for sharing :D
Disarming and sweet, captures the feelings and misgivings quite well.
Just a good poem...so true too...love it!
What a beautiful piece, loved it! And such good encouragement to others to dare, one more time, in spite of feeling burned out emotionally, to love once again, discovering they can now rest in the loving. Thank you for the word treat! Blogging this on over to my poetry blog for everyone else to enjoy too! Thanks for writing it.
alekhouse, I'm just beginning to read your hubs, and I can't stop. This is a beautiful poem, another one of my passions is reading poetry. Beautiful, beautiful!
I echo Denny's comment and would like to add how beautifully you captured that moment of awakening out of a long-held and protected resistance..."And as I stayed resistant to your touch / You never turned away, instead t'was such / an oh so gentle nudging at my soul / that woke me..."
Thumbs up! You have a new fan.
great poem. I like it. It's %100 our right to falling in love again. But for someone who get married...think twice to falling in love again.
I am happy for you ALek, thankyou for writng it down and sharing this way. It adds light to the joy when we can open our feelings to others. Poetry Rocks dosn't it?
Hey Alekhouse this is such a cool, cool poem! You are a very talented lady!
Very nice poem, and very appropriate with Valentine's Day!
I like it! It expresses the spectrum of feelings. The lines I love best are:
"I struggled as you crawled into my mind,
Afraid of what your loving me might find."
Great stuff, all love can be so fleeting, no? But what great writing material......
Well done!
The knack of writing poetry still evades me, but I'm working on it.
BTW, I lived on a farm in Casey County Ky. for a few years. Beautiful country. I miss it.
Perhaps I'd be better off sticking to what I do best...fiction and short stories. :-)
